In every relationship, there are mountaintops and valleys. And when life gets tough, it’s easy to feel like we’ve hit a “valley” in our relationship with God. Sooner or later, every one of us will likely come to the place where we’re worn out and tired from our spiritual walk. In those seasons, it’s critical to remember why we chose to be in relationship with Him in the first place, and continue walking forward with Him.

If there’s one thing human beings are good at, it’s making excuses. But at some point, we have to leave our excuses at the foot of the cross if we’re going to choose to follow Jesus — and we have to stop excusing ourselves from being obedient in what He’s calling us to do.

In the tough moments, it’s easy for us to trade in our original plans for momentary pleasures. But when we give up our commitment to be obedient to God, it can lead to huge mistakes and grave consequences. Instead, let’s keep our focus on Him — and know that every choice we make has an impact on ourselves and others.
