God doesn’t have a voicemail. That’s because He always answers us when we cry out to Him — we don’t have to leave a message and hope that He’ll get back to us eventually. Sometimes, it feels like He isn’t responding because His answer doesn’t look the way we’d like. But when we’re in constant communication with Him, we begin to pray according to His will instead of according to our own desires, and our prayers begin to align with His plans for our lives.

Sometimes God answers, “Yes.” Sometimes God answers, “No.” Sometimes God answers, “Not right now.” But whatever God’s response, He always answers! That’s why He wants us to communicate with Him and ask us for the things the Holy Spirit puts on our hearts. He might not always give us the answers we want, but He gives us the answers that are according to His will and His plan.

Sometimes we don’t really understand how prayer works — and that’s okay, as long as we understand that prayer does work! We need to keep an open prayer line with the Lord 24/7, so that when He directs us to pray, we do it. The Bible commands us to pray without ceasing, so let’s always be attentive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, whether it’s for ourselves or other people.

The devil and his demons are consistently working to destroy us. The only way we can stand firm against his schemes is to pray like hell. God empowers us to fight against the work of the enemy when we pray fervently for ourselves and for others.

The Bible tells us to pray constantly, but it doesn’t tell us to pray fancy! God isn’t concerned with the words we use, but with the heart that we bring to Him in prayer. Even if He doesn’t answer the way we want Him to, He’ll transform our hearts in the process.
